This is a full-spoiler retrospective critique of the Crysis trilogy of first-person shooters. The first Crysis is a legendary piece of software, but the two …

analisi lucidissima Angelo, grazie.

“Games have always been a deeply important part of my life, but that doesn’t make me a gamer or an enthusiast according to that kind of popular wisdom. Only spending obscene amounts of cash money to get the best of everything can do that. It’s not how you feel, it’s what you spend. Of course encouraging this attitude encourages spending for obvious reasons, so you can see why the people who make the products are kind of all about that perception.”

“Humans want to feel special and their entire industry is dedicated to getting you to spend more money to be part of an exclusive club of people who also spend their money. “VIP”, “Gold Club”, “members only”, these are magical phrases that prey on loneliness and disconnection, that use that longing to belong to get people to open up their wallets like blossoming flowers.”

“Crysis warhead sees itself as a prestige title on a prestige platform, it’s too bad that it’s actually a very mediocre game when you get past all the self validation that ticking all the boxes over to “enthusiast” is supposed to inspire.”
